MADISON – Joan C. Lenling, age 86 of Madison, WI, formerly a long time resident of Delavan, WI, passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2025 at home under hospice care in Madison, WI. She was born August 11, 1938 in Racine, WI, the daughter of Stanley and Arline (Anderson) Kozak. Joan graduated from Delavan High School in 1956, and was united in marriage to Clifford Lenling on November 23, 1956
Joan was an active member of St. Andrews and regularly attended and made pies for Friday night bingo. She worked at many other places in the area, including Calico Cat and The Stitchery at Millie’s Pancake Haus where she made the quilting displays. She was also the seamstress for Bradley’s Department Store. She sewed for many people in the community, and made stuffed animals from the fabric made by Borg’s in Delavan. Later on she worked at The Village Supper Club as the daytime salad lady where she made the salads for the relish bar and provided her delicious pies. She ended her career in the print shop at Sta-Rite Industries. She and Cliff retired in 1998 and moved to a beautiful custom built log home in Poplar, WI where they spent many years living near their eldest daughter Cathy and their granddaughters. They later moved to Madison, WI in 2011 when Cliff’s health started to decline, but were able to enjoy time with their son Tom and grandson. Joan frequently travelled to New Jersey to see her youngest daughter Amy, and her grandsons.
She is survived by her children: daughter Cathy (Bruce) Baillie of Brule WI; son Thomas Lenling of Madison WI, who took wonderful care of her in her final years; and daughter Amy (Mike) Pohl of Holmdel, N,J as well as 6 grandchildren: Michaela Baillie, Meg (Donovan) Kipela, Emily (Sam) Baillie-Ostazeski, Tyler Lenling, Brian and Nathan Pohl. She is preceded in death by her husband Cliff, her parents, and her brother Richard.
The Lenling Family will greet friends and family on Sunday, March 16, 2025 from 1:00 P.M. – 3:00 P.M. at Monroe Funeral Home, 604 E. Walworth Avenue in Delavan.
