Joy Libby Nelson, of Delavan, passed away at the Aurora Medical Center Summit on September 19, 2025. Joy was born on December 22, 1928, in Phillips, WI, to Jens and Molly Jensen.
Joy is survived by her son Richard Nelson of Pagosa Springs, CO, two grandsons Nicholas E. (Paula) Nelson, Nathan R. Nelson, a great granddaughter, Paula Maria Nelson, a great grandson Nicholas R. Nelson and her God given daughter Patricia Nelson all of Los Alamos, New Mexico.
Joy was a very intelligent women with many interests, although most important to Joy was her love of God, her family and her home. Joy was widowed by the love of her life Ervin Nelson at a young age. She worked at Alders in Delavan until she retired from her work family. Joy always maintained a lovely home and a yard with beautiful gardens. Joy taught Sunday school at the Delavan United Methodist Church. Joy had this amazing ability to see every detail in the world and to see beauty in everything that touched her life.
Joy’s legacy will live on in the many lives she touched. She will forever be remembered for her generous heart, her laughter and her ability to find joy in every day. We will truly miss her.
Joy is preceded in death by her husband Ervin Nelson and her oldest son Scott Nelson.
Joy was blessed by some very special earth angels Jennifer Kummer, Kenzie Kummer and Cindy Gallup.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Joy Nelson’s name to your favorite charity. A memorial service will be held next Spring.
