DELAVAN – LaVon A. Adney, age 93, of Delavan passed away on Thursday, January 14, 2016 at Ridgestone Village in Delavan. She was born in Rutland, SD on March 8, 1922 to Emil and Doreatha (Heyer) Wagner. LaVon was united in marriage to Robert Adney in 1947. He passed away on April 14, 2000. LaVon proudly served in the U.S. Army during WWII as a nurse. She worked for many years as a registered nurse at Lakeland Hospital in Elkhorn, WI and in Tucson, AZ. She belonged to the American Legion Post 95, the Lady Elks, and the United Methodist Women.
LaVon is survived by six children, Barbara (Curt) Aarud, of Watersmeet, MI, Robert “Bing” (Deborah) Adney, of Janesville, WI and Dayton, WY, Patricia Adney, of Chicago, IL, Janet Adney, of Tucson, AZ, Thomas (Peggy) Adney, of Delavan, and Donna Redding, of Blanco, TX; eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. LaVon is preceded in death by her husband, Robert; her parents; a daughter, Mary; a brother, Wilfred; a sister, Marie; and mother-in-law, Lucille Adney.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 9:30 A.M. on Friday, January 22, 2015 at Ridgestone Village, 1025 S. 2nd Street in Delavan with Rev. Maribel Celiz officiating. Burial with Military Honors will take place at Spring Grove Cemetery in Delavan. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to Badger Honor Flight, Women’s Memorial in Washington D.C. or Delavan United Methodist Church.
