DELAVAN – Mark E. Ekman, age 62, of Delavan passed away on Thursday, August 18, 2022, after a short illness. He was born in Belvidere, IL on March 20,1960 to George K. and Celia M. (Drath) Ekman.
As a youth, Mark participated in Delavan Youth Baseball, Cub Scouts, attended school in Delavan and was a member of the school orchestra from inception, through high school. Mark was a 1978 graduate of DDHS.
Career opportunities eventually led to Georgia where he met Bonny Parker, and they married in 1990. Sons Parker and Scott were the inspiration for the family to return to the Delavan area.
Mark was a long-time employee of Yunker Industries in Elkhorn.
Mark enjoyed catching blue crab on Jekyll Island GA, playing video games, going to movies, and watching his favorite sports teams in person or on television.
Mark is survived by his loving wife, Bonny; sons, Parker (Justine Ludwig) and Scott; sisters, Leanne (Bill) Ekman-Wells and Gail (Dale) Thompson, brothers, Edward and Christopher, all of Delavan; Mother and father in-law Melinda and Bill Parker; sisters-in-law; Ann (Tom) Williams, Lee (Randy) Glaze all of Georgia and brother-in-law David (Susan) Parker of Florida. Mark is further survived by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Mark is preceded in death by his parents.
Services will be held at 3:00pm Sunday, September 11, 2022, at Delavan United Methodist Church, 213 S. 2nd Street in Delavan. Visitation will be held from 2:00pm until the time of the service on Sunday at the church. Memorials can be directed to the Prostate Cancer Foundation, pcf.org
