Nancy L. Crispell, age 84, of Delavan passed away on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at Aspirus Hospice House in Wausau, WI. She was born in Sharon, WI on March 7, 1933 to Gus and Doris (Burns) Hall.
Nancy was an only child and grew up in the Delavan area surrounded by a close extended family. Her mother, Doris, was a stay at home mom and her father, Gus, ran an auto body repair shop. She was a 1951 graduate of Delavan High School and pursued nursing thereafter. Nancy met Elvin “ Chris “ Crispell while he was stationed at the local radar base while serving in the Air Force. They were married in Delavan on December 11, 1954 and settled in the Delavan area where they raised four children. Chris was the love of her life and they were married for 50 years prior to his death in 2005.
She was a wonderful stay at home mother who loved her children (most of the time) and her dogs (all of the time). Her last years were spent with her favorite dog Sophie, a Schnauzer and possibly the most annoying dog ever. She volunteered at the Delavan Food Pantry for many, many years. Nancy enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, family cruises, video poker in Las Vegas, the Milwaukee Brewers and watching crime dramas like Forensic Files and CSI. While not the best cook, she will forever be remembered for her Rice Krispy bars (in a good way) and her Kraft Mac and Cheese with stewed tomatoes (mixed reviews!).
Nancy is survived by three daughters; Deb (Doug) Whitley, Cindy (Pat) DeBroux, and Michelle (Mike) Nummerdor; a son; Jeff (Gina) Crispell; 7 grandchildren: Taylor and Zoe Whitley, Shelby Harden, Sydney Nummerdor, Ethan, Sam and Drew Crispell; a sister-in-law, Eileen Bean; and 2 brother-in-laws, Earl Crispell and Ed Crispell. She was preceded in death by her husband Elvin and by her parents.
Private Family Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2017, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Delavan, with Rev. Robert P. Rickman officiating. Burial will be at Spring Grove Cemetery in Delavan.
