DARIEN – Nellie Louise Schmidt, age 97, of Darien passed away on November 2, 2017 at Aurora Lakeland Hospital after a short illness. The family of Louise would like to take a moment to thank the fantastic hospital staff and hospice staff at the hospital. They and our Lord Jesus Christ made this sad and stressful time bearable.
Louise was born in Pittsville, WI in 1920 to William Lawrence Ward and Iona Alice Rowley-Ward. She spent her young years in Nekoosa. Louise was united in marriage to Frederick Schmidt on a New Jersey Army base in 1942. Her parents, husband, Frederick Sr. and son Frederick Jr. preceded her in death.
Louise is survived by brother, Lawrence Ward in Oregon. She is also survived by 3 children, Duaine (Bonnie), Darlene, and Joyce; 5 grandchildren (Kim, Tommy, Amy, Libby, and Leland; 12 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. The family would like to give special thanks to Eileen Robers who has been a special family friend for many years, and to Pastor Perkins.
Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at First Baptist Church, 212 S. Main Street in Delavan. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to First Baptist Church.
