Richard Dale Allen

Richard Dale Allen, age 73 of Delavan, Wi. passed away Friday Seprtember 23, 2011 at Mercy-Walworth Medical Center in Lake Geneva Wi. Dick was born on April 28, 1938 in Fort Atkinson, Wi., the son of the late James and Dorothy (Wittenweiler) Allen. He graduated from Fort Atkinson High School in 1956 and attended the University of Wisconsin Whitewater. Dick served in the Wisconsin Army National Guard, having been activated during the Berlin Crisis.

In his earlier years, Dick 'turned Wrenches' at various area automotive service stations until he became the proud owner/operator of Dick's Shell Service Station in Whitewater for 20 years. During that time, he served as a Boy Scout leader, baseball little league sponsor and a Rotarian. He then worked as the automotive service manager for Roy's Sales and Service in Elkhorn and at Dodge City in Wauwatosa. In 1995 he opened AmeriSpec Home Inspection Service in Elkhorn, retiring in 2005 and then working part-time for the Home Depot in Janesville.

He is survived by his devoted, loving wife of 28 years, Gloria; his son, James; his daughter, Kim (Bruce) Pontel; his brother, William 'Bill' (Jean); his sister, Carole (John) Kennedy; mother-in-law, Jane M. Rahn; sister-in-law, Eileen (Dean) Howarth; and beloved dog, Jackson. Dick is preceded in death by his son, Steven on May 8, 1981; his brother, Donald and his parents.

Richard's visitation is Thursday, September 29, 2011, from 11:00am to 1:00pm at the Monroe Funeral Home in Delavan, Wi. The Funeral Service will be at 1:00pm. Memorials may be made to the Parkinson's Foundation, Auora Visiting Nurse Association or the Lakeland Animal Shelter in Elkhorn. MONROE FUNERAL HOME in Delavan, Wi. is assisting the family.
