DELAVAN – Ronald A. Torrey, age 77, of Delavan passed away on Tuesday, April 14, 2026 at home. He was born on November 27, 1948 in Springfield, IL to John and Rita (Mounce) Torrey. Ron was united in marriage to Sharilyn Stanley on April 27, 1996 in Danville, IL. He was the owner operator of Captain Hook Construction in Austin, TX. Ron will be remembered as an advocate for human rights and staunch supporter of the Democratic Party. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, home improvement, watching and competing in track and field, and cheering for Chicago Sports teams. In his younger days, Ron was a weekend warrior in softball, basketball, and golf.
Ron is survived by his wife, Sharilyn; a daughter, Chaille (Patrick) Gleason, of Cary, IL; a son, David Torrey, of Peoria, IL; six grandchildren, Torrey, Tabor (Leon), Eamon, Gage (Amanda), Macauley (Daril), and Blake; five great grandchildren; twin brother, John (Diane) Torrey, of IA; two sisters, Patricia Torrey, of FL, and Sally Torrey, of PA; and many nieces and nephews. Ron maintained strong bonds with his ex-wife Connie’s (Lamb Torrey Romanus) family and his numerous cousins from Springfield and Decatur, Illinois. He also looked forward to regular zoom meetings and the reunions with classmates from Bergan High School (’68).
Ron is preceded in death by his parents.
