Steven J. Phillips

CLINTON - Steven James Phillips passed away peacefully on the morning of Friday, March 12, 2021 with his family by his side.  Steve was born to James D. Phillips and Therese M. Phillips (nee Bloch, later Kieselburg) in the autumn of 1954 in Wisconsin Rapids, WI.  Later moving to Allen's Grove as a youth, Steve grew up in the midst of the farms, creeks, lakes, and forests of the area.

So much more than an avid hunter and fisherman, Steve was most at home outside of the home.  Always with a keen eye for the details in nature.

Alongside his career as a successful lithographic printer, Steve also raised a number of prized hunting dogs - Springer Spaniels specifically - that he kept as his steadfast hunting companions.  From Bo to Hope, all were treasured.

Steve loved his Mother, his children Eric and Stephanie, his family, his friends, and fresh air under all manner of skies (alongside a good hunting dog).  Following a successful deer hunt in the fall, he longed for one last fishing trip with his brother Jack, or perhaps a final check of the creek while staying with his sister Connie, but, sadly, his life ended before opening day.  Nonetheless, his spirit will live on in the water and wood.

Steve is survived a son, Eric and his significant other Rachel and her daughter, Lydia; a daughter, Stephanie; three grandchildren, Anna, Leah, and Chamiya; three sisters, Connie Gaulke, Dawn (Michael) Lassiter, and Cassie (Dan) Hartogh; three brothers, Jack Phillips, Russ Kieselburg, and James (Rachel) Kieselburg II; and nieces and nephews.

Steve was preceded in death by his Father, James D. Phillips; Mother Therese M. Phillips Kieselburg; Stepfather James R. Kieselburg; and Brother-in-Law, Otto L. Gaulke.
