DELAVAN – Walter M. Williams, age 85, of Delavan, WI passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, July 29, 2023. He was born in Salt Lake City, UT on February 5, 1938, to Allen E. Davis and Josephine Dennis Davis. Walt proudly served in the U.S. Army 82D Airborne Division from October 4, 1956 - September 6, 1960. Throughout his life, Walt possessed a rare spirit of compassion, integrity, and kindness that influenced all those who crossed his path. Walt cherished the love of his family and friends and his church family. He was proud to be an American. Walt was loved by everyone he met.
He worked for many years as a Machine Foreman for Greenlee Brothers and Ingersoll Rand. He retired at the age of 79 as the Maintenance Manager for PDQ Food Stores, a job that he truly loved because of the people with whom he worked.
Walt was a member of Chapel On The Hill, The VFW, The American Legion, The Moose Club, and the NRA. He enjoyed classic country music and delighted in country couples dancing with his sweetheart, Pat. Walt was an active man and enjoyed playing golf, softball, bowling, stock car racing, boating, and camping. He relished the sunshine.
Walt is survived by his wife, Patricia Stranc, Delavan, WI; his son, Allen (Virginia) Williams, San Antonio, TX; his daughter, Dawn (Jeff) Lucas, Foley, AL; his stepson, Gary Stranc, Delavan, WI; his stepdaughter, Lisa (Tim) Bliss, Ellensburg, WA; his stepson, Jeffrey Stranc, Walworth, WI; his brother, Samuel (Mitzi) Williams, Augusta, GA; his sister, Betty Derrick, Columbia, SC; and his brother, Frank (Francis) Williams, Columbia, SC. Walt has 4 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Walt was preceded in death by his parents Allen E. Davis & Josephine Dennis Davis, his brother, Sidney A. Davis and his brother-in-law, Grover Derrick.
As we bid farewell to Walt, we take solace in the knowledge that he has now found eternal peace. Though he may no longer be physically present, his spirit will live on in our hearts and through our cherished memories. He will continue to serve as an inspiration of how to treat others to those who knew him well.
Services will be held on Saturday, August 5, 2023 at 10:30 AM at Chapel on the Hill, N2440 Ara Glen Drive in Lake Geneva, WI. Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service on Saturday at church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Kidney Foundation or the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
