ELKHORN – Alejandro “Alex” Varela, age 51, of Elkhorn passed away on Tuesday, September 15, 2026 at Aurora Lakeland Medical Center in Elkhorn. He was born on May 4, 1975 to Guadalupe and Francisca Varela. Alex was a graduate of Elkhorn High School. He worked as a translator at a law firm for Kathyrn Keizer. He was a member of St. Patricks Catholic Church in Elkhorn. Alex loved soccer and watching the World Cup and his favorite Mexican Soccer team “El America”.
Alex is survived by his wife, Maria; children, Xavier Varela, Talyna and her husband, Zachary Isaacs; grandson, Mateo Isaacs; his parents, Guadalupe and Francisca; stepchildren, Samuel, Renato, Christian, and Kevin Aranda; his siblings, Beatriz Aranda and Cesar Varela and his wife, Veronica Martinez; and nieces and nephews, Marlene, Christine, Ricky, Oscar, Teyatzin, Xocoyotzin, and Yaretzi.
Alex is preceded in death by his daughter, Alexy Varela.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, September 18, 2026 at St. Patricks Catholic Church, 107 W. Walworth Street in Elkhorn. Visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the funeral on Friday at the church. Burial will take place at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Elkhorn.
