WILLIAMS BAY - Barbara Krafft Vercoe passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 15, 2024 at her home in Wisconsin. She was born on April 7, 1930 to Lee and Beatrice (Hasenstab) Krafft. Barbara attended Carleton College, where she met the love of her life, Jim Vercoe. Jim served as a well-known pediatrician in the community. She then attended the University of North Carolina earning the high honor of membership in Phi Beta Kappa. Barbara and Jim raised their family in Wheaton, IL and attended Gary United Methodist Church. She was a conscientious member of the Wheaton community which included League of Women Voters, PEO, Garden Club and the Central DuPage Hospital Women's Board. Barbara loved reading, needlepointing, skiing, birdwatching, traveling, playing Chinese checkers and challenging her grandchildren at cards.
Barbara is survived by her sister Phyllis Sherlock, Palo Alto, CA and her five children, Paul A. Vercoe, Sacramento, CA, Leslie Denvir (Robert), Long Beach, IN, David Vercoe (Kim), Carol Stream, IL, Sydney Borst (Mark) Lake Geneva, WI, and Craig Vercoe (Amy), Carlsbad, CA. She will forever be loved.
