Gaye Annetta Hastings, beloved daughter, mother, stepmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 5, 2023, at Pleasant Valley Nursing Home in Derry, NH. She was born on June 1, 1942, in Elkhorn, WI to her loving parents.
Gaye graduated from Delavan-Darien High School as part of the Class of 1960. She began her career as a Hairdresser before transitioning to become a Medical Secretary at Rush Presbyterian St Luke’s Medical Center in Chicago, IL. She later worked as a gift shop cashier at Geneva Lakes Kennel Club and Lake Lawn Lodge on the weekends. In her final years of employment, Gaye served as a Medical Secretary at St Joseph’s Hospital in Milwaukee, WI until her well-deserved retirement in 2007.
Gaye had an insatiable love for learning and enjoyed reading books extensively. Biographies, Historical Fiction, and Nora Roberts novels were among her favorite genres. She was also an active member of Jobs Daughters and Sweet Adeline’s. Gaye had a passion for singing and cherished every opportunity to raise her voice in harmony with others. Music brought joy to her life. In addition to music, she had a fondness for game shows like Family Feud and Jeopardy and enjoyed watching the Food Network.
Gaye will be dearly missed by all who knew her. She was predeceased by both her parents, Francis B Flahive and Myrtle A Reed, as well as her beloved older brothers Francis Flahive and Richard Flahive.
She is survived by her loving daughter Colleen (Michael) Ellek of Derry, NH, as well as her stepchildren Christopher (Jeannette) Hastings of Eddyville, KY, and Scot (Andrea) Hastings of Morris, IL. Gaye will also be fondly remembered by her step-grandchildren Andrew Kane, Nichole Hastings, Kristin Kane, Kristen Hastings, Dallas Hastings, Austin Hastings, and her five step-great-grandchildren. Gaye is also survived by her brothers, David Flahive and Gary Flahive. She was an adored sister and aunt to numerous nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart.
Services to honor the memory of Gaye Annetta Hastings will be held at Monroe Funeral Home located at 604 E Walworth Ave in Delavan, WI. The visitation will take place on June 1, 2024, starting at 9:00 A.M. until 10:00 A.M. The funeral service will follow immediately after the visitation at 10:00 A.M. Interment will take place at Spring Grove Cemetery, Delavan, WI. Family and friends are invited to attend.
