DELAVAN – Gerald “Butch” Gleiter, age 79, of Delavan passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at Ridgestone Village in Delavan. He was born in Wheeler, WI on April 26, 1944 to Annis and Vivian (Jensen) Gleiter. He proudly served in the U.S. Army Special Forces (Green Beret). Butch was united in marriage to Joyce Miles on April 20, 1968. She passed away on October 27, 2012.
Butch retired from UW-Whitewater as a Master Plumber from Residence Life. He also had his own business before and after working at UW-Whitewater.
Butch was a member of the Delavan Lions Club where he served others for many years, even serving as president of the club. Butch was an avid outdoorsman. He loved hunting, camping and spending time with family. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Butch is survived by his daughter, Brenda (Jason) Wencka of Wauwatosa; sons, Bob (Patty) Gleiter, of Lake Mills and Russ (Kimberly) Gleiter, of Elkhorn; 6 grandchildren, Mitchell (24), Melissa (21), Abigail (20), Elijah (19), Miles (10), and Stanley (8). 2 sisters Jeanette Myers of Knapp, WI and Pat (Dick) Teich of Fayetteville, Arkansas and brother Gustav (Shirley) Gleiter of Albertville, Minnesota.
Butch is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Joyce; son, Jerry; and 5 brothers and 2 sisters.
A Memorial Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. - NOON on Friday, May 17, 2024 at Monroe Funeral Home. 604 E. Walworth Avenue in Delavan.
