DELAVAN – James A. Ritchie, age 69, of Delavan passed away on Friday, October 2, 2015 at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee. He was born in Prairie du Chien, WI on January 9, 1946 to James and Alletta (Hooverson) Ritchie. James was united in marriage to Barbara Miller in 1969 in Baraboo. He worked as a Driver’s Ed teacher at Delavan-Darien High School then went on to the Delavan Police for 34 years becoming a Lieutenant during that time. He also worked as head of security at Andies Candies. James was elected as a Municipal Judge for the city of Delavan in 2010. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed spending time at the cabin in Western Wisconsin with family and friends.
James is survived by his wife of 46 years, Barbara, of Delavan; a daughter, Christina (Keith) Shimon, of Glenview, IL; a son, James (Toni) Ritchie, of Waukesha; four grandchildren, Sarah and Allison Ritchie and Brayden and Ashley Shimon; a sister, Nancy (Jerry) Wagner, of Boscobel, WI; and also nieces and nephews. James is preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, October 10, 2015 at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church, 714 E. Walworth Ave in Delavan. Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 P.M. on Friday, October 9, 2015 at Monroe Funeral Home, 604 E. Walworth Ave and from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service on Saturday at the church.
