Jean B. Black, age 74 of Delavan, WI, passed away Thursday, July 24, 2014 at Aurora Lakeland Medical Center in Elkhorn, WI. She was born on December 2, 1939, the daughter of Floyd and Cecil (Mauldin) Blashfield. Jean was united in marriage to Wallace Black. He preceded her in passing on August 21, 1996. She was an active member of the United Church of Christ in Delavan, WI. Jean was an author of over 250 fiction and non-fiction books for children and worked in the publishing industry for over half a century. Jean also was a member of the American Association of University Women, the Aram Public Library Board and Masterpiece Chorale. Jean is survived by her children, Winston (Emily Reiner) Black of MA and Chandelle (Diego) Arambula of CA; step-daughter, Cindy Black of FL; three grandchildren Gabriel Black, Camila and Lola Arambula; two sisters, Elizabeth Blashfield of Elkhorn and Carol Rawlins of CA, and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial Services will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at the United Church of Christ in Delavan, WI, with Rev. Laura McLeod officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00am until service time at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the AAUW Lake Geneva Branch in memory of Jean Black.
