Mary Lou Johnson of Beloit, Wisconsin passed away on June 29th, 2024 taking a piece of our hearts with her. We are so thankful she did not suffer long. She was 74 years young and “just a youngster” as she would say.
Mary Lou worked first as a waitress for Eat’n Time and stated she always hated when Wally would stand behind her making sure she gave the correct change. She then went on to work for Sta-Rite as a secretary for many years until she moved to Illinois with her husband, James. There she worked at a local hospital in admitting.
Mary Lou loved bowling, averaging a 186; reading and fishing. After the death of her husband in 2018, she decided to move to Arizona. She became involved in her church participating in Stephen Ministries and volunteering where she was needed. She even opened her home for those less fortunate or just had no place to go. She was loved by everyone she met. Her love for the state of Wisconsin brought her back after only two years in Arizona. She loved meeting for coffee every morning with her apartment family and with her special group friends every other week for lunch.
Mary Lou was predeceased by her husband, James Johnson; her loving parents, Ray and Bev DuCharme; brothers Gary, Pat and Tommy and sister, Teresa Merriman.
She is survived by five sisters; Kathy (Mike) Skelton, Delavan; Sandy (Jim) Jones, Arizona; Annie (Mike) Wilhite, Arizona; Diana (Todd) Klade, Delavan and Lori DuCharme, Milwaukee. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Mary Lou cared so deeply for the people around her. She was so kind and passionate. She made an impact on many lives. She will be forever missed. We love you Lou. Until we meet again.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, July 27th, 2024 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Andrew’s Cemetery in Delavan. Monroe Funeral Home is handling arrangements for the family of this beautiful soul.
