Delavan/ Patricia Louise Whalen, age 77, of Delavan, passed away Monday, May 17, 2010 at St. Lukes Medical Center in Milwaukee. She was born July 24, 1933 in Varna, IL, the daughter of Lyle and Elizabeth (Hayden) Downs. She married Arthur on February 19, 1955 in Lake Geneva, WI. She had a love for quilting and was an avid bowler. She was secretary for the Walworth County Goat Association and Society Assets for her daughter Mary. She was a member of the St. Andrews Catholic Church in Delavan.
She is survived by her husband Art of Delavan; 6 daughters, Kathy (Michael) Burch of Sheboygan, WI, Debbie Hitz of Elkhorn, WI, LuCinda (John) Settlemyer of Chesterfield, VA., Tammy Gasior (Ben Jordan) of Eau Claire, WI, Dawn (David) Reynolds of Wautoma, WI and Mary Lou Whalen of Delavan, WI; 1 son, Ronald (Cindy) Whalen of Delavan, WI; 9 grandchildren, Danny, Scott, Melisa, Ryan, Susan, David, John, Julia and Andrew; 2 great-grandchildren, Jason and William and 2 on the way; 1 sister, Donna (Jim) Jensen of Neshkoro, WI; 1 brother, Lyle Jr. (Alice) Downs of IL; also nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, 1 granddaughter, Diane Louise, 1 sister and her 2 brothers.
Funeral Mass will be held at 11:30am, Thursday, May 20, 2010 at St. Andrews Catholic Church in Delavan with Fr. Jim Schuerman officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30am until time of service at the Church. Burial will be at St. Andrews Cemetery in Delavan. MONROE FUNERAL HOME, Delavan, is assisting the family.
