DELAVAN – Paul Bouke Jeninga, age 95, of Delavan formerly of Winfield, IL passed away on Thursday, February 5, 2015 at Ridgestone Village in Delavan. He was born in the Netherlands on February 15, 1919 to Jan and Boukje (Dykstra) Jeninga. Paul proudly served in the Dutch Army during WWII. He married Alice Fokkema in 1945 in the Netherlands and Alice passed away in 1999. He worked as a train engineer for 15 years before finishing his working career developing and making trumpets. Paul enjoyed trains, inventing new ideas for trumpets, and playing piano.
Paul is survived by his two children, Boukje Meyer, of Elburn, IL, and Joanne (Robin) DeGroot, of Winfield, IL; five grandchildren, Justin (Jorie) Meyer, of Warrenville, IL, Sonja (Scott) Lilly, of Winfield, IL, Alexia (Jeffrey) Seppala, of Westminster, CO, Jeniva (Kurt) Knautz, of West Chicago, IL, and Trista Chenot, of Winfield, IL; seven great grandchildren, Milena and Annika Seppala, Aveley and Veren Knautz, Payton and Macie Meyer, and Jane Chenot; and siblings, John (Eve) Jeninga, of Delavan, Dina Burgstede, of Delavan, and Ted (Nellie) Jeninga, of Delavan. Paul is preceded in death by his wife, Alice; his parents; and six siblings.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, February 14, 2015 at Delavan Christian Reformed Church, 850 Oak Street in Delavan with Rev. Dan Roeda officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service on Saturday at the church. A Private Family Burial will take place at Wheaton Cemetery in Wheaton, IL. Memorials can be directed to Delavan Christian School or Wheaton Christian Grammar School.
